Finding the right kind of truck can take a lot of careful research. Often, you'll find a group of models with similar specs and features, making it hard to choose one that suits you well. Packed with exciting and innovative features, the new Frontier makes towing and hauling easy and rugged adventures possible whenever you feel like going off-road. While competitors like the Chevy Colorado and Honda Ridgeline come equipped with high-quality features, they don't quite match the Nissan Frontier in a head-to-head comparison. Explore the matchups below and let us know if you have any questions!

Nissan Frontier vs. Chevy Colorado

Under the hood, you'll find the Nissan Frontier keeps powertrain options simple, while the Chevy Colorado will throw a few options at you. The Frontier comes standard with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that delivers 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque - the former output is best in its class. The Colorado truck equips a standard 200-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 191 pound-feet of torque, with options that include a 3.6-liter V6 and Duramax® 2.8-liter Turbo-Diesel. None of its engines can match the horsepower output from the Frontier.

Keeping with that standard powertrain, the Nissan Frontier tows a maximum of 6,720 pounds, allowing you to haul supplies to the worksite and get right to business. While the Chevy Colorado offers a larger towing capacity, you'll need to equip one of its available engines to achieve that capability. Sticking with the base engine, the Colorado truck only tows up to 3,500 pounds.

Staying safe while towing is important, and the Frontier offers a few standard and available features that aren't included with the new Chevy Colorado. The class-exclusive Intelligent Forward Collision Warning feature is standard for all new Frontier models, helping you avoid collisions - this feature isn't offered by the Colorado. The new Nissan truck also offers an Intelligent Around View Monitor with Off-Road Mode and Rear Automatic Braking - you can't find either of these in the Colorado.

Nissan Frontier vs. Honda Ridgeline

Both models utilize a V6 engine to keep things moving, but the Frontier employs a 3.8-liter engine while the Honda Ridgeline uses a 3.5-liter. The Ridgeline keeps horsepower output close but is no match for the class-best 310 horsepower delivered by the Nissan truck. Torque performance is the same, with the Honda Ridgeline only managing 262 pound-feet to the Frontier's 281 pound-feet.

Based on the engine performance, it probably comes as no surprise that the Nissan Frontier can tow more than the Honda Ridgeline. The Honda truck starts at 3,000 pounds maximum towing capacity and goes up to 5,000 pounds - not exactly world-breaking. The Nissan Frontier manages much more from its base model, with a maximum of 6,720 pounds.

With technology, it's no contest between the two trucks. The Nissan Frontier offers available features like a nine-inch touchscreen and the Advanced Drive-Assist Display with a seven-inch screen - the biggest available option in its class. The Honda Ridgeline only offers one screen size, an eight-inch touchscreen.
